Now let’s deep dive into the remarkable features of each of these shoes.

Brooks Glycerin

Brooks is one of the leading brands when it comes to athletic shoes, especially running shoes.

Everyone, from top-notch athletes to regular runners prefer using Brooks running shoes for their running events as well as their daily running regime.

This leading brand understands the tailored demands of the runners and manufactures shoes to enhance their performance and efficiency.

Paying a tremendous amount of attention to the technicalities associated with running, Brooks also pays attention to environmental sustainability.

Time after time, the company brings out a new model or an upgrade.

Many publications have named Brooks as the “Best Running Shoe.” Here, we are reviewing Brooks Glycerin, one of the most popular Brooks running shoes.

Notable Features:

  • Offers great comfort while running
  • Stylish upper
  • A lightweight design
  • Upper unit is airy and breathable
  • Snugly sock-like fit
  • DNA Loft midsole technology offers a very soft and responsive ride
  • Use of two rubber materials in the outsole
  • Use of 3D Fit Print Technology on the upper
  • Ideal Pressure zone to release pressure

Sole Technology

  • Outsole Technology

The outsole of these stylish shoes is constructed using two robust rubber materials namely, the HPR Plus rubber and blown rubber.

Starting with the HPR Plus rubber, it covers the heel area. It is very durable and is responsible for protecting the outer sole unit from wear and abrasion. This works well for heel-strike runners.

The rubber amazingly absorbs the impact and offers excellent traction on different kinds of surfaces.

The other kind of rubber, i.e., the blown rubber covers the forefoot area of the outsole. This rubber compound augments the traction and flexibility.

It is very bouncy and soft and so, it adds up to the underfoot cushioning making the runner feel comfortable.

The most amazing feature about the outsole of Brooks Glycerin is the presence of the Ideal Pressure Zones. These zones help in dispersing the pressure and hence, offering a very smooth ride.

  • Midsole Technology

Coming to the midsole technology of the excellent Brooks Glycerin shoes, it uses the latest DNA Loft cushioning. The predecessor of these running shoes used the Super DNA cushioning.

As compared to the predecessors, this latest midsole technology is more responsive.

Brooks has always used the patented foam midsole. However, in Brooks Glycerin, the makers have used an upgraded and foam formula. The contemporary DNA Loft cushioning is an amalgamation of foam, rubber, as well as air.

These three components come together to offer a very soft and amazingly comfortable cushioning to the wearer. The midsole ensures a better bounce, better responsiveness, and enhanced durability.

The DNA Loft cushioning provides a very smooth heel-to-toe transition. The continuous grooves used by Brooks further improve flexibility and responsiveness.

In the presence of plush cushioning, the biggest concern is a feeling of gaucherie. But on wearing these shoes, you will not feel clumsy at all. Even in the presence of plush cushioning, the shoes offer an excellent ground feel.

All in all, the sole unit provides a very smooth ride.

The upper of Brooks Glycerin is fabricated with double jacquard mesh. The upper material guarantees better breathability.

The double layer mesh also does not let dirt enter the shoes and add more support.

The outer material stretches and conforms to the shape of the feet. This further assures a supremely comfortable coverage.

Furthermore, the 3D Fit Print Technology amps up the overall fit of Brooks Glycerin. The 3D print overlays support the feet through full gait. They offer more rigidity and keep the foot locked in.

For a better in-shoe feel, the manufacturers have used an internal bootie construction. The wider toe box ensures greater comfort.

The use of the old-world lace-up closure ensures greater mid-foot security along with offering a complacent foot lock-down.

The plush collar hugs the ankle and the foot.

Given the amount of cushioning, it is very difficult for anyone to fathom lightweight running shoe. But, to your surprise, the shoes are quite light in weight. Of course, they are not featherlight but, not very clunky either.

The shoes are very comfortable and lightweight. Men’s shoes weigh 10.5 ounces, whereas women’s shoes weigh 9 ounces.

The double-layered mesh along with the 3D printed overlays allows proper ventilation. Air circulates throughout the shoes making the wearer feel dry and comfortable throughout the run. This is a plus point for the runners who sweat profusely.

The upper mesh makes it possible to wear these shoes during the summer run. But this does not mean that you cannot wear these shoes in cold weather. They offer optimum protection for training in cold weather.

Comfort and Brooks Glycerin go hand in hand. The plush midsole and supportive upper come together to provide maximum comfort to the runner.

These running shoes are reliable and very durable. The outsole is very robust, the midsole is made from strong material, and the upper does not wear and tear easily. These shoes have a long shelf life.

Generally, cushioning is always inversely proportional to responsive, but this is not the case with this shoe. Quite contrary to this belief, Brooks Glycerin  is far more responsive than the other Brook shoes. The new midsole offers exemplary energy return.

The plush cushioning brings down the impact. The presence of an Ideal Pressure Zone on the sole offers optimum protection from high impacts. The design helps in dissipating the impact on any kind of surface.

The mesh upper guarantees maximum protection against heat. The 3D print design promotes air flow and hence, prevents overheating.

Support and Stability

The sock-liner like fit makes sure that the runner gets optimum support while running. The heel collar snugly fits the heel and adds to the support.

The shoes offer a great amount of stability, especially to the neutral runners.

The rubber outsole assures superlative grip. Both the kinds of rubbers provide great traction on almost every kind of surface.

Brooks Glycerin is indeed a very stylish shoe. There are many color options both for females and males. For males, the color options available are black and orange, navy and neon, dark teal and neon, and blue.

For women, the available color options are black and pink, dark purple, pink, and teal.

The 3D print overlays do more than offering stability. They enhance the style quotient.

Article was supposed to be Brooks Glycerin 17 v Asics Nimbus 21, but it seems to be a partially edited version of 16 v 20. Pics of Brooks are 16 and Asics are all 20 and the end of the article still talks about 16 v 20. I am having problems getting Nimbus 21s locally (after having Nimbus shoes for last few years) but can get Glycerin 17s and was hoping to get more information about which is better.
